The solid aluminum structure is cast directly onto a compacted ultra-fine silica sand mold, giving it a sleek and polished finish. The seat and backrest are made of multiple layers of carbon fiber, thermomolded to provide flexibility and adaptability to the user's body. These layers are lined with high-density memory foam rubber and fine natural leather, ensuring a comfortable and luxurious seating experience.

The Space armchair is not only visually striking but also functional. Its streamlined silhouette, made from aerospace-grade materials, gives the impression that the chair is floating, adapting to the weight of the user. The flexible bearing damping sliders, made from a new-age alloy called NiTinol, provide additional support and comfort. The chair also features ventilation spaces, keeping it fresh and breathable.

Gerardo Rios Altamirano, along with his team at Gerardo Rios Studio, meticulously designed and crafted the Space armchair. The project began in August 2021 and was developed over several months of research and prototyping. The design was inspired by the optimism surrounding the new space age and the potential it holds for humanity. Extensive research on materials, aerodynamics, and space aircraft shapes informed the design process.

The Space armchair is currently in the prototype phase for laboratory testing and will be available for production on request. Its dimensions of 1170mm in height, 760mm in width, and 875mm in depth make it a statement piece in any space. The chair can be disassembled for easy transportation.
